hic hic hic

Mr. Andersen, you have the hiccups right now. Very rhythmic and very visible. It's cute.

No wet nurse, please.

I love my husband. I truly do. But the next time he schedules a daycare interview for 6:15AM, we will have to make a trip to the ER first.

We've been interviewing last week and this week. It's a lot harder than it sounds. The potential provider seems fixated on me as we talk, nevermind the fact that Bryan is right beside me. Everyone knows it's Mom who makes the final decision, right? Not a good plan when Mom is the one who caan't think straight at this point in the pregnancy. Yes, I may have questions, but by the time you get around to asking me for them, I have forgotten them and I have also misplaced the piece of paper that has them all listed.

We've had some good interviews, some so-so interviews, and then at least one totally bizarre interview.

I know that there are things we will have to provide for our child, like diapers, and I know that there are standard things the daycare provides, like lunch. However, while going over her list of things she does not provide, one person made it clear that she does NOT provide breast milk. Seeing as how she was at least 60 years old, I was very happy.

My husband couldn't control the snort that came out of his mouth, though.

Technology rocks

Am I a dork for being this giddy over a new scanner at work?

At least it wasn't #2!

I had my first non-stress test yesterday.

Bryan and I haven't really advertised this fact, but the doctor considers me a high risk pregnancy due to several factors, none of which we shall go into today. I do have a higher than average amount of doctor appointments and ultrasounds, and from here on out I will have at least two appointments a week. As long as I get to hear the heartbeat everytime, they can make me come in twice a day, everyday, until I give birth. I like that connection with El Pumpkin Seed.

I had my appointment at 3:40 yesterday. I was so happy when I got there, mainly becasue I wasn't late. (Sorry, Andersen, but you've spent the last few months several minutes late to every appointment. I'll accept the blame, if you accept the waddling as your fault.) They collect my urine sample, as they do at every appointment, and I efficiently wrote on the label, under "Sample Type," #1.

Apparently, that's the first time they've seen anyone do that in eight-and-a-half years. I just didn't want them to be confused.

I was up 2/10 of a pound at this appointment, for a grand total of 5 pounds in seven months. I think I like this aspect of pregnancy. I've been know to gain 5 pounds after discovering a new flavor of ice cream. Or a nice steak meal. Or simply breathing on a muggy day. This is nice.

Everything was going great until the doc asked me if I started my NSTs this week. I told her that yes, that's what this appointment was for. That's when she instructed me I was supposed to be in Labor and Delivery for that appointment well over an hour and a half prior.

Oopsy!

Phone calls were made, some walking was done, and things were ok. I made it to L&D and they checked me in just fine, albeit with a lot of laughter. I was taken to my room and they hooked me up to the machine and I got to hear Andersen's heartbeat for fifteen straight minutes. And I found out that some of his movements are really hiccups!

Forgive me, I've never given birth before and I don't have a lot of people I can ask all of my stupid questions about being pregnant. I'm learning as I go. So, hiccups!!! Pretty awesome, I was impressed with the strength of them.

The only downside to yesterday was the fact that I was late to the NST. Did you know you get to lay in bed for those? I'm a huge fan of being lazy right now, and I was upset that I missed out on so much horizontal time!
